A family tradition continues on...
After over 30 years, Eladia still gets together with some of her first families on Father's Day to have an Eladia's Kids family picnic. Some of the initial Eladia's Kids have had their own children attend the school, making them second generation Eladia's Kids!
When learning about the food pyramid, children took a trip to the local Ristorante to make some yummy pizza. From mushrooms to ham to extra cheese, the children explored the food groups while topping their hand made pizza. A big thank you to Giuseppe, the owner of Broccolino, for letting all of our little ones make their very own pizza. Educational AND deee-licious!
Fire Department Visit
Every year our kids visit the local fire department. It’s a fun way to learn about fire safety and who doesn’t love to visit the local fireman and get on a big red engine! Thanks to the Dean Street Ladder Company for always making our little firebugs feel right at home!
Brooklyn Botanic Gardens
Each year in Spring, our children learn about life cycles and how we can take better care of our environment. They grow seeds and plant flowers. They learn about different things that we can do to help our plants and flowers grow. After learning all these wonderful things, we traditionally visit the Brooklyn Botanic Garden – an annual highlight to the school year where our kids and parents take a full morning to welcome the spring blossoms as well as do fun activities to learn more about the natural world around us.
Ghosts, goblins, princesses and a bevy of superheroes invade Eladia’s Kids in celebration of Halloween for our annual Halloween walk. A stroll around the neighborhood gives the locals a wonderful opportunity to “oohhh & ahhh” over our little ones as well as give a chance for our little ones, their parents and teachers to show their alter ego’s! Halloween celebrations will take place once again this year – so dress to impress!
Eladia’s Kids also hosts a funshop for parents. A morning or afternoon filled with interactive child-rearing exercises and tips from Eladia and her staff. This informative session is a great way for parents to learn about the Eladia’s Kids methodology, as well as get practical tips on the joys and challenges parents face when raising children. Look out for our next training session.
Our very-own Eladia’s Kids version of dinner-and-a-movie but this time with pajamas! Our school is transformed into a giant slumber party with parents getting the night off while their little ones, (including some of Eladia’s Kids graduates!) enjoying pizza and a classic film. So far, we’ve screened some of the great holiday classics such as “It’s a Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown”, “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving”, and “A Charlie Brown Christmas” peppered with modern classics such as “Up”. Be sure to sign up for our next party as spaces fill up quicker than a summer blockbuster!
